Managing Your Store Blog

A built-in blog helps you create content that drives organic traffic to your store and engages your customers.

Creating Blog Posts

Navigate to Online Store → Blog and click Add Post. Fill in:

  • Title — The post headline
  • Content — Rich text article content with full formatting support
  • Excerpt — A short summary shown in blog listing pages and search results
  • Featured Image — The main image displayed at the top of the post and in listings
  • Author — The post author name
  • Tags — Labels for categorization and filtering

Blog Categories

Organize posts into categories (e.g., "News", "Tutorials", "Product Updates"). Categories create filtered views of your blog and help customers find relevant content. Each post can belong to one category.

Writing for SEO

Blog posts are powerful tools for search engine optimization. Tips for effective blog SEO:

  • Use your target keywords naturally in the title and first paragraph
  • Structure content with H2 and H3 headings for readability
  • Write posts of at least 500 words for better search rankings
  • Add internal links to relevant products and collections
  • Use descriptive alt text on all images

Blog URL Structure

Blog posts are accessible at /blog/your-post-slug. The slug is auto-generated from the title but can be customized. The blog index page at /blog shows all published posts with pagination.

Publishing and Scheduling

Posts can be saved as drafts and published when ready. The published date is set automatically when you first publish, but you can backdate it if needed. Posts are sorted by published date on the blog index.

Blog in Navigation

Add a link to your blog in the header or footer navigation menu. You can link to the main blog page or to specific categories. Many stores add the blog to the header menu as "Journal" or "News".

RSS Feed

Cartly automatically generates an RSS feed for your blog, allowing readers to subscribe and receive updates through their preferred RSS reader.
