Clarity Theme — Overview & Getting Started
What is Clarity?
Clarity is Cartly's featured editorial theme, available in the AppStore themes catalogue. It ships with a warm-gold accent palette, Playfair Display headings, and a curated set of sections designed for brand-forward storefronts.
Installing Clarity
- Go to Online Store → Themes in your admin panel.
- Click Visit Theme Store and find the Clarity theme.
- Click Add to Library. Clarity installs alongside your current active theme — your live storefront is not affected.
- Click Publish when you are ready to make Clarity your active theme. A confirmation dialog confirms that the switch is live immediately.
Customising Colors and Typography
Open Online Store → Themes → Customize (with Clarity as the active or previewing theme). The Theme Settings panel on the left contains:
- Colors — change the primary, accent, background, and text colours using the color pickers.
- Typography — choose heading and body fonts from the Google Fonts list.
- Layout — adjust the maximum container width and section spacing.
Changes are previewed in real time in the storefront preview iframe. Click Save to apply.
Customising Sections
In the Visual Editor, click any section to open its settings in the sidebar. Clarity sections include:
- Hero — full-width header with headline overlay, subtext, and up to two call-to-action buttons.
- Featured Collection — product grid with Quick-Add cards; configure which collection to show and the number of columns.
- Image with Text — side-by-side image and text panel; toggle left/right image position.
- Testimonials — customer quote carousel with star rating.
- Newsletter — email sign-up form connected to your subscriber list.
To add a section: click the + button in the editor left panel and pick from the Clarity section library.
Editing Theme Code
Advanced merchants can edit Clarity's Liquid files directly via Online Store → Themes → Edit Code. Click a file to open it read-only, then click Edit file to fork it. Your changes are saved to your store and persist independently of Cartly platform updates. See Using the Theme Code Editor for full instructions.
Switching Back to Another Theme
Go to Online Store → Themes, find your previous theme in the Library section, and click Publish. Your Clarity customisations are preserved in the library — you can re-publish Clarity at any time and your settings and section content will still be there.
